El Fogón is de to-go option if what you’re craving are local tacos and the ultimate Playa del Carmen food experience. This is also low to midrange budget option. A great spot to have dinner with your family or hang out with friends. Tacos al pastor, and other signature dishes, are what make this place great.
According to their Facebook page, the restaurant’s specialty is al pastor. Proper pastor (slow roasted pork) is not available in restaurants in the United States because it is not cooked at a high enough temperature, but rather at low temperatures for long periods of time. However, in Mexico, this is not an issue. At El Fogon, you can get a pastor taco for the US equivalent of 50 cents.
They also have a great selection of Mexican beers and sodas. There are few restaurants where you can get such amazing food for such a good value. If the locals say it’s worth visiting, it will be worth your time.
